What is Insulin Shock?

Many diabetics have suffered from a severe medical condition known as insulin shock.  During these situations medical attention is required immediately.  This condition occurs when a person's blood sugar level drops dangerously low, which could result in shock or unconsciousness, being very life-threatening.

Hypoglycemia is a medical term that is defined as a drop in your blood sugar or glucose.  Glucose is known as your body's primary source of energy, that your pancreas regulates.

Sweating, dizziness, weakness, headache, fast heart rate, pale colored skin, and having the shakes can be some of the signs or symptoms that a person might notices when their blood sugar levels start to decrease.

The general cause of your blood sugar levels decreasing are:

- Missing Meals
- Drinking alcohol
- Certain medications
- Too much medications or insulin
- Excessive or unexpected exercises
- Other medical conditions

Insulin shock is very common to the type 1 and type 2 diabetics.  For the diabetics that try to control their levels by dieting and exercising tend to never have an insulin shock.

If a diabetic person is with you, and they go into an insulin shock you will want to be sure to contact 911 immediately or seek medical assistance quickly, since this health condition is not something that you will want to play around with!  It is a very serious and horrible medical condition that could take a person’s life.
