What are Diabetes Supplies?

s

Diabetes supplies are the medications, books, treatments, foods and supplements that a diabetic needs to maintain their regular regimen to keep their blood sugar levels low. The available supplies for diabetes are dependent on which of the two types of diabetes you have. Most diabetes patients will need some form of a meter to determine what their blood sugar levels are so that they can adjust their diet to match what the levels are. These meters require regular refills of testing strips. Some of the newer ones no longer require the patient to poke themselves in the finger, but rather on the side of their arm. This is generally the least painful method of testing blood sugar.

In addition dietary supplements are normally necessary such as vitamins and food additives that help to keep blood sugar levels low. Special fake sweeteners and other healthy supplies such as low sugar energy bars are also helpful to the average diabetic. If the diabetic takes insulin they may need an insulin pump or cooler to aid in the keeping or distributing of insulin. The diabetic may also have to take one or more of five primary medicines for helping to treat diabetes. Finally the diabetic may require one of a number of cook books to help them find recipes that they not only enjoy, but help to manage their diabetes.
