Every year, thousands of people die because of hypertension, or we should say high blood pressure. Millions of dollars are being spent to find ways to curb hypertension. It was earlier also known as the ‘silent killer’ when people were not even aware of what high blood pressure meant. Health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, and other heart problems can be caused due to high blood pressure or hypertension. The simplest way is to get your blood pressure checked whenever you go to your doctor. If the symptoms are seen, then the action can be taken immediately since there is nothing like too early or too late as far as high blood pressure is concerned. As soon as there are symptoms of hypertension, try avoiding consumption of tobacco, alcohol, and cigarette-smoking. All these factors along with a poor diet, stress, and obesity can also cause high blood pressure. The first step to avoid hypertension is to resort to a diet which is low in saturated fat, salt, and cholesterol. Try adding fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, seeds, and nuts to your daily diet. Instead of coffee and soda, switch to a cup of tea on a daily basis. Green tea is more beneficial as it contains antioxidants. High blood pressure can be cured by keeping a watch on your diet, intake of vitamins, and regular exercise. If the pressure is too high, then you can take some medicine under the supervision of a doctor. |
