Is Night Late Eating Alright When You Have Diabetes?

Are you the one who enjoys late night eating? If it is once or twice, things are not bad, but if it is a habit, then it is an area of concern. Some people are affected by the night eating syndrome and they feel satisfied after eating late night snacks or other foods. But such late eating on a regular basis is not at all healthy for the body.

If you are diabetic, you need to take special care of your diet and the timing of the diet. Absurd eating habits by a diabetic are very harmful as this disrupts the blood sugar levels and there is sudden increase or decrease in these levels which is entirely unacceptable. Therefore diet patterns for a person with diabetes are of utmost importance. However, it is not that late-night snacks for diabetics are completely out, but the choice of snacks should be wise.

If the foods taken in late night are high carbohydrate foods, they may lead to an increased level of blood sugar. Therefore, late night snacks can include baby carrots, a can of diet soda, two salted biscuits, a serving of sugar free gelatin or a vanilla wafer. These foods have fewer calories and carbohydrates than other foods, thus they would not lead to increased blood sugar or weight gain.
