What are Diabetes Glucose Levels?

Normal glucose levels for people who do not have diabetes are between 70 and 150 mg depending on what type of testing in what time of the day the testing is done.  Blood sugar levels that are over 150 mg are too high.  People who have diabetes can monitor their blood glucose levels at different times during the day.  However, diabetics really should test their blood sugar levels two hours after eating.  You can monitor your glucose levels at home if you have a glucose monitor.  You should also keep track of your levels in a logbook.  This way you can get a better idea of how good a job you are doing in maintaining healthy glucose levels.

Typically, diabetes glucose levels should be kept within the range of 100mg -140mg at bedtime.  Before meals the blood glucose levels should be maintained at 80 mg – 120 mg.  When you test your blood sugar levels after fasting for eight hours a normal range for diabetes blood sugar levels is 110mg.  One hour after eating a normal reading would be 180mg.  Two hours after eating diabetic blood sugar levels should be below 140.
