Is There a Cure For Diabetes?

Currently there is no known medical cure for diabetes. Treatments can help make it easy to live a normal life in combination with diet and exercise. Research is underway to attempt to make it possible to transplant healthy beta cells (Icets) that produce insulin into patients who have lost the ability to produce their own. In the first of these tests the results were limited. While a total off 44% of patients who tried this method were able to live without insulin for one year, sadly after two years only 28% percent were able to live without insulin. The results kept decreasing each following year.

Many research institutions are working on a way to help keep these cells alive and from being damaged. While there hasn't been a test yet that has had over an 80% success rate after two years research groups are hopeful that within the next 5 – 8 years they will have a viable cure for diabetes so that insulin treatments aren't necessary for the majority of diabetes sufferers. Results look promising as well for simple yet effective inhale-able insulin that would make treating diabetes easer and more effective. In the years to come diabetes sufferers may soon find relief from the constant problems caused by diabetes.
