Who Are the American Diabetes Association?

The American Diabetes Associated was enacted to help fund research in order to cure and prevent diabetes in children and adults. They are the leading diabetes organization in the United States and currently have collaborations with a host of other organizations, all working toward better health for Americans.

Not only does the ADA help to fund research for diabetes, but they also:

* Help those with diabetes to better manage the disease.

* Help to deliver needed services to a number of communities around the nation.

* Help those who may have been denied rights because of their disease to seek justice.

* Provide information to medical facilities, schools and homes around the nation about the prevention and management of diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association also collaborates with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society in order to find ways of earlier detection and prevention of other diseases that can be caused by diabetes such as heart disease and certain cancers.

They are also part of the joint initiative, Everyday Choices for a Healthier Life, which helps to increase awareness in the public sector about diabetes, its prevention and possible cures currently being researched.
